I the past decade or so, there have been lots of new hair loss products products that have emerged as valid options for people suffering from baldness. One of the most common ingredients in these products is Minoxidil, an ingredient that is FDA approved to stop hair loss and regrow hair.
Rogaine w/ MinoxidilIt’s not immediately apparent how Minoxidil works just by reading the label. But, there is plenty to be learned about it if you look in the right places.
Minoxidil does not work on just any area of the body, and it cannot simply cause you to regrow tons of hair if you just rub it into your skin wherever you feel like it. It’s specifically targeted to help with hair loss in the crown of the head, but has not been shown to work in any other areas. For lots of people, the crown or back of their head is the place they first notice hair loss. For those people, Minoxidil is an excellent option.
Minoxidil works by increasing blood flow to the scalp and ultimately the hair follicles on your scalp. At the crown of the head, poor circulation is a major cause of hair loss. As your follicles become less and less nourished, they tend to shrink smaller and smaller, until your follicles are too small to grow hair anymore. If you are already experiencing hair loss, it’s quite likely that you will also notice that your actual hair strands are getting thinner over time as well. That is a sure sign that your follicles are shrinking.
In order to fully utilize the power of minoxidil, you will need to use it every day, in the morning and in the evening. This ensures that it is achieving maximum effect by being on your scalp for the longest time possible. Applying it more often that twice a day does not increase your results.
When searching for a product that contains Minoxidil, remember that Rogaine is not your only option. You can most definitely find something that works even better and contains more key ingredients to help you regrow hair. Many products even have supplements that will help regrow hair over your entire scalp, rather than just at the crown of your head. Just be sure to shop around and which hair loss products have the best reviews.
